The National Tobacco Administration conducted initial testing of remotely piloted aircraft system (drone) for mapping in Pilar, Abra on September 28.

Engr. Kenneth Tannaval of the Farm Technology and Services Department piloted the newly acquired DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral Drone in the mapping of some areas. The drone DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral Drone can measure 14 Hectares in 14 minutes.

John James Canosa of the Office of the Deputy Administrator for Operations and Ryan Jay Sape assisted Tannaval in the setup of mobile base station.

The activity is the outcome of the Training of Extension Workers on the use of srone held on July 27-29 at NTA Experimental Farm in Tabug, Batac City, Ilocos Norte. As of date, the NTA has 17 drone pilots that can fly the Phantom 4 DJI Multispectral drone.

Also present during the testing were Acting Deputy Administrator for Operations Dr. Giovanni B. Palabay, FTSD OIC Manager Engr. Randy Abella, NTA Abra OIC Manager Alona A. Manganaan and NTA Director Danilo Trongco
