Some 318 tobacco-rice farmers of Burgos, Ilocos Sur received free fertilizers as farm input subsidy from the municipality’s share of the tobacco excise tax under Republic Act 7171. Mayor Nathaniel Escobar led the ceremonial distribution held at the town center on November 5. Leonardo C. Escobar, Agriculturist I of NTA Candon and team leader of extension workers assigned in Burgos, assisted in the distribution. Each farmer received three bags of 10-18-24, two bags of 21-0-0, and one bag of foliar fertilizer per one hectare of farm area.
