NTA Cagayan conducted seminar on Block Farming and other projects for farmer leaders representing farmers’ cooperatives and associations in the province, held on December 14 at the old training hall of the Branch Office in Tuguegarao City.

Twenty-eight farmer leaders, including Reymund Pinon National Vice-Chairman (Native Cigar Filler) of the National Federation of Tobacco Farmers Association and Cooperatives, attended the seminar spearheaded by Branch Manager Dr. Corazon R. Riazonda.

Manager Riazonda discussed the rationale of the seminar, including OneDA Agenda of the Department of Agriculture and Values Reorientation. Chief Agriculturist Gilbert A. Taguiam discussed the Block Farming Program while Supervising TPRO Alicia A. Malab presented the NTA 2020-2021 Project Accomplishment Report. For the current cropping season, NTA Cagayan has organized seven block farms with an aggregate area of 175 hectares involving 393 farmers.

According to Manager Riazonda, the farmer leaders are very thankful for the 40% subsidy in the production assistance provided by the agency for the Block Farming.
