Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar awarded P4.565-million to the tobacco growers of Piddig, Ilocos Norte as production assistance under the Curing Barn Assistance Project of the National Tobacco Administration, during the ceremonial release held on December 14. Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, acting NTA Deputy Administrator for Operations Engr. Cesario G. Sambrana, NTA Ilocos Norte OIC Luzviminda U. Padayao, Piddig Mayor Eduardo Guillen, and Ilocos Regional Director Nestor Domenden joined the agri chief in the ceremonial release.
The assistance for the tobacco growers was part of the P66.93-million worth of interventions by DA to benefit the farmers and livestock raisers of the municipality.
