NTA Vigan distributed 8,400 day-old broiler chicks to farmer-cooperators of the Gulayan at Manukan sa Barangay (GMB) Project on September 18, at the NTA Training Center at San Juan, Ilocos Sur.
Each farmer-recipient received 40 chicks, 5 kg booster; 10 kg starter, 10 kg grower, a pack of Vetracin. According to Branch Manager Minerva P. Mizal, the recipients are the 210 tobacco farmers of the second district of Ilocos Sur whose tobacco plants were damaged due to freak rains in the province during the early months of 2021.
Acting Branch Chief Agriculturist Noralyn I. Idica, along with Supervising TPRO and GMB Project Coordinator Jose A. Taclas Jr. and Senior TPRO, supervised the inspection and distribution of the broiler chicks to the farmers at the drop-off point in San Juan.
Gulayan at Manukan sa Barangay is an intervention program of the National Tobacco Administration in support of the tobacco growers during the pandemic.
