Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc led the distribution of farm implements and fertilizers to 100 tobacco farmers in the province on November 29, held at the NTA-PhilRice Building in Batac City.
The farmers, all cooperators of the Tobacco Contract Growing System (TCGS) project for crop year 2021-2022, received 50 water hoses, 50 knapsack sprayers, and 200 bags of fertilizers.
In addition to the farm implements, the provincial government is set to distribute 2,200 bags of 10-18-24 and 2,200 bags of 0-0-50 (25kgs/bag) to the farmers from the share of the province of the tobacco excise tax collections under RA 7171.
In his brief message, Governor Manotoc assured the farmers that the provincial share of RA 7171 will be utilized for the benefit of the farmers.
The distribution was in coordination with the Ilocos Norte Branch of National Tobacco Administration.
NTA Ilocos Norte officer-in-charge (OIC) Luzviminda U. Padayao, NTA Governing Board Member Nestor C. Casela, and Sustainable Development Center OIC Luzviminda Ortal assisted the governor in the distribution of the material inputs and implements.
