Long-time Industrial Research Department Manager Dr. Roberto R. Bonoan takes his oath of office as the Deputy Administrator for Operations before NTA Administrator/CEO Robert Victor G. Seares Jr who administrered his oath during the Monday ceremony in the NTA Central Office on February 22.
He has received the confirmation of his appointment from Malacanang dated February 17 through a communication from the Department of Agriculture.
Dr. Bonoan has been the acting Deputy Administrator, in concurrent capacity as IRD Manager, since his designation in January 2019. He served as acting NTA Administrator for three months, from March to June, after the death of then Administrator Robert L. Seares last year.
As acting Administrator, he initiated the formulation of the implementing guidelines for the Block Farm, and the implementation of the Gulayan at Manukan sa Barangay and the Vegetable Seeds Distribution as intervention programs for the tobacco growers, in support of the food sufficiency program of the Department of Agriculture during the pandemic.
Dr. Bonoan was OIC of the DAOP Office from 2007 to 2011, in concurrent capacity as IRD Manager. He was also designated Technical Coordinator for the Branch Offices from 2011 to 2017, in charge of the implementation of programs and projects covering technology development and services, regulation and extension/production support services.
The Branch Offices, the Farm Technology and Services Department (FTSD), the Industrial Research Department, and the Regulation Department report directly to the DAOP Office.
