The National Tobacco Administration held on June 30, its groundbreaking ceremony for a new 15-storey Central Office Building at its original location at Scout Reyes Street in Quezon City.
Once completed, the new Central Office will boast 15 floors and over 24,000 square meters of office space. It will include space for each of the NTA branch offices and Governing Board of Directors. Floors will also be allotted to other government agencies and rented out to commercial establishments.
The old headquarters, which was built in 1966, officially shut its doors in 2019 after experts determined the structure was vulnerable to shifting and possibly collapsing in the event of an earthquake.
Administrator/CEO Robert Victor G. Seares Jr., other members of the Top Management and Members of the NTA Governing Board took part in the event. They included Deputy Administrator for Operations Engr. Cesario G. Sambrana Jr., Deputy Administrator for Support Services Benedicto M. Savellano, and Directors Nestor C. Casela, Teofilo R. Quintal, Danilo C. Trongco, and Jesse Pat M. Serna.
