NTA conducted the workshop on Technology Update Crop Year 2022-2023 at the NTA Candon Branch Office in Brgy. Calaoa-an, Candon City, Ilocos Sur on August 30-31.
This is to update information and technology components that could be incorporated in the Tobacco Production Guide for this coming crop year, 2022-2023.
Participants in the annual activity facilitated by the Office of the Deputy Administrator for Operations are the Branch Managers, Chief Agriculturists, and representatives from the private sector.
In his video message NTA Administrator/CEO Robert Victor G. Seares Jr. stressed the importance of technology updates to come up with the recommended technologies for quality tobacco production and help meet the agency’s goal to increase the yield and income of tobacco growers.
Director Nestor C. Casela and Director Teofilo R. Quintal, members of the Governing Board also graced the event.
The Technology Updating Task Force also came up with a unified technology for the production of quality tobacco and agreed on the operational plan and schedule of activities for the IFOIGAP Tobacco Contract Growing System for Crop Year 2022-2023.
The task force is chaired by Dr. Giovanni B. Palabay, OIC Deputy Administrator for Operations and Engr. Randy I. Abella, OIC manager of Farm Technology Services Department (FTSD), as Vice Chairman. It is divided into three Focus Group Discussions:

Biostimulants and pest control companies such as JJEA Company, Hans Earl Philippines, Leads Agri, AGWAY, and ENVIRO presented their products during the workshop that will give help tobacco farmers with good quality tobacco leaves.
