The National Tobacco Administration (NTA) joined the kick-off celebration of the 2022 National Rice Awareness Month (NRAM) at the Liwasang Aurora Amphitheater, Quezon City Memorial Circle in Quezon City on November 3, 2022.
The celebration banners the six-year theme “Be RICEponsible,” a call for the achievement of food sufficiency by every Filipino in their own ways.
Aside from encouraging the public to not waste rice, this year’s celebration emphasized the importance of eating brown rice, mixing rice with other healthy staples, and supporting local rice farmers.
DA Senior Undersecretary Domingo F. Panganiban in a video message said that every Filipino should work together to attain the purpose of this celebration.
DA Undersecretary Jane C. Bacayo headed the launching of Be RICEponsible Theme and ABKD.
Staff from the DA-Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) facilitated group games for all the participating agencies.
Participants recited the “BE RICEponsoble Pledge” led by Director for NCR Operations, Vener Dilig.
As mandated by Proclamation No. 524, s. 2014, NRAM is celebrated every year during the month of November.
