The Public Relations unit of the Office of the Administrator conducted an online training seminar for the members of its Communication Support Group on December 9 via Microsoft Team
s.The one-day training was aimed at enhancing competencies of designated information officers and social media administrators of the NTA Branch Offices and Departments in information dissemination through relevant information for publications or social media posting.
Rita T. Dela Cruz, head of Social Media Team of the Strategic Communications Office of the Department of Agriculture was the resource person on the first session: “Making an Effective Infographics for Social Media.” The second session focused on “Building a Better Social Media Presence” presented by Dela Cruz and Dinah E. Pichay, Manager of Internal Audit Service. Pichay provided reminders on social media etiquette, particularly on the official social media pages of the agency and the branch offices.
Neyo E. Valdez, Public Relations Officer V and Head of PR Unit, and Kathleen Mae B. Bulquerin, Information Officer II (JO), presented the Communication Guidelines and Editorial Standards for Information, Education, and Communications (IECs), reminders on effective news writing, editing and making relevant posts on social media.
In his message, delivered by Atty. Jun Fred V. Parado, Administrator/CEO Robert Victor G. Seares Jr. stressed on the important role of the information officers in communicating truthful and relevant information to the industry stakeholders, especially under the new normal where people turn to social media for immediate access to information.
Administrator Seares also encouraged the participants to continue promoting good rapport with the local media outlets and the general public in their performance of their tasks.
Deputy Administrators Benedicto M. Savallenao (Support and Services) and Engr. Cesario G. Sambrana (Operations) also graced the online event with their video messages.
Workshop on making an infographics followed after Dela Cruz’s lecture. Three outputs were adjudged best among those presented by the participants: Gay Anne B. Ronduen of the Farm and Technology Service Department, first place; Leonora P. Nudo of the Industrial Research Department, second; and Kristin Mae S. Castañeda of NTA La Union, third.
