NTA Cagayan Branch Manager Dr. Corazon R. Riazonda checked on the tree seedlings at the nursery managed by the Branch Office in Tuguegarao City on April 15. A total of 220,000 seedlings are expected to be produced from the nursery for the Synchronized Tree Planting (STP) Project to be conducted in July this year.
The Branch Office produced 124,450 seedlings for the STP last year, or a total of 762,110 seedlings it produced since the start of the project in 2014.
The Branch-managed nursery, with mahogany, narra, gmelina, zapote, mabolo and calamansi seedlings, is being managed by the two foresters hired by NTA, Arjie Sunido and Harold Z. Guilang, and under the supervision of the Operations staff led by Gilbert A. Taguiam, Chief Agriculturist, and Alicia A. Malab, Supervising TPRO.
The STP is an annual inter-agency and multi-sectoral tree planting activity conducted by the Branch Offices as part of the agency’s effort to contribute for the restoration of ecological integrity in tobacco areas.
