Tobacco contract grower Edgar Alcantara exudes positivity as he poses for camera with his ready-to-harvest Virginia Improved Flavor tobacco in his farm at Barangay Allangigan 1st in Candon City on March 2. Almost a month ago, 20% of his 2.25-hectare tobacco farm was affected by flooding during the unexpected downpour that damaged tobacco in the Ilocos Region. Some of his tobacco plants were able to recover by using water pump to drain the flooded area. Alcantara is a farmer-cooperator of Tobacco Contract Growing System (TCGS) and availee of the Improved Tobacco Seedling Production of the NTA Candon Branch.
