NTA Candon distributed 3,500 broiler chicks to farmer beneficiaries of its Gulayan at Manukan sa Barangay (GMB) project in the second district of Ilocos Sur. This was held at the Branch Office at the city hall compound in Candon City on October 29.
Some 185 farmers from tobacco-growing municipalities of Narvacan, Sta.Maria, Burgos, Santiago, San Emilio, and G. Del Pilar, and Candon City each received 25 broiler chicks, 5 kilos of booster feeds, 10 kilos of starter feeds, 25 kilos of growers feeds and veterinary supplements.
The distribution of the Manukan component of the project is intended for tobacco farmers whose farms were heavily affected by freak rains during the first quarter of 2020. NTA launched GMB in April 2020 as part of intervention program for food sufficiency at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
