After the rice harvest, seedbeds of Native broadleaf tobacco start to appear in farm areas in Isabela, an indication that the tobacco cropping season has begun in the region. Joey A. Pascual, Tobacco Production and Regulation Officer of NTA Isabela, captured these cheesecloth-covered seedbeds of tobacco growers Romeo Maraggun and Beatriz Baquiran in San Luis, Cauayan City during the monitoring of the Branch Office, headed by Chief Agriculturist Joefrey T. Bautista on November 17. The incoming season holds promise to the tobacco growers as it starts the implementation of an increase in the tobacco floor price in the coming tobacco trading and the provision of higher subsidies to the farmers to augment their income in their farming venture.
