In preparation for the opening of trading season in Region 2 on April 21, NTA Isabela and tobacco leaf buyer Universal Leaf Philippines Inc. (ULPI) conducted calibration of weighing scales at a buying station in Reina Mercedes, Isabela last week.

Engr. Jovanie C. Gante, TPRO I and Christopher D. Queddeng, Agriculturist I, of NTA Isabela Branch worked with Engr. Jomar Olarte, Electrical Engineering Mgt. Trainee of ULPI, in ensuring the accuracy of weighing and measuring instruments for the trading operations of Burley and Native tobacco in the region.

NTA, in the exercise of its regulatory authority, has overall supervision of leaf trading operations in the country and in the enforcement of regulatory procedures on the redrying, preliminary processing of tobacco leaf, and the setting up of floor prices for tobacco.
