The Operations Group of the NTA Isabela and its Research Team set up the verification trial for Native Broadleaf tobacco on separate locations in San Placido, Roxas and Rang-ayan, Mallig, Isabela on January 8.
Branch Chief Agriculturist Joefrey T. Bautista and Acting Supervising TPRO Perpetuo C. Dalloran supervised the establishment of the trial in Mallig and Roxas, respectively.
The Branch Office will evaluate the agronomic performance along with the qualitative characteristics of the Native Broadleaf tobacco hybrids (C9, D1 & D2) grown in Isabela), following the recommended layout and the package of technology for the tobacco varieties.
The farms of farmer cooperators Augusto Pigao (Roxas) and Rosita Aguilar and Eliza Pascual (Mallig) serve as varietal trial sites. The farmer cooperators also planted Native (Simmaba variety) as check variety.
