Three Sanitary Engineering junior students of the University of Northern Philippines, Vigan City visited the NTA Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita, a meat processing facility, in Brgy. Nanguneg, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur as part of their course requirements in Public Health Engineering on May 25.
The students, Sigarnel R. Parel, Rovi D. Valdez, and Jessica Lyka Torrejas, were given a walkthrough of basic sanitation procedures so they could gain a better understanding of how to identify and solve public health problems. The tour was facilitated by slaughtering section head Arturo D. Castillanes and general maintenance officer Estephany C. Agustin.
The NTA Kadiwa is an accredited retailer of quality meats by the National Meat Inspection Service. It also a TESDA-accredited training school for slaughtering.
Since its opening in October 2013, the facility has been hosting plant visits and educational tours for college students, farmers, local government officials and employees, and private companies.
