New NTA Deputy Administrator for Support Services

Benedicto M. Savellano, the newly appointed Deputy Administration for Support Services, meets the officials and staff of the NTA Central Office in Quezon City, in his first flag ceremony as one of the two second in command of the agency on Monday (June 22).

Savellano, former Chief of Staff of Ilocos Sur (1st Dis) Rep. Deogracias Victor "DV" Savellano, got his presidential appointment on June 17, 2020.

As a Deputy, Savellano takes charge of the overall direction and supervision of the Finance and Administrative Departments, ensuring coordination in the provision of support services needed in the implementation of the Agency's programs and services and in accordance with its approved policies and standards.

In his message, Savellano vowed to continue the services of the agency to the farmers and other industry stakeholders amidst the challenges brought about by the pandemic. He enjoined the staff to work together harmoniously in spite of the challenges, while keeping themselves and their families safe, and put their trust in the government, especially President Rodrigo Duterte and his programs, the Secretary of Agriculture, and the incoming administrator of NTA.

Savellano was involved in tobacco and other agricultural crops being the chair of the Committee on Agriculture, Fisheries and Cooperatives as a three-term councilor of Cabugao, a major tobacco-growing municipality in Ilocos Sur. He facilitated in January the consultation and presentation by the NTA of the Sustainable Tobacco Enhancement Program (STEP), a five-year development plan of the industry, to Rep. DV Savellano.
